What happens in this segment?
The second stage of the Business Technology Life Cycle is the Acquire segment. Having collected and analyzed information about the specific business issue(s) to be resolved, the organization’s goals and requirements, and the available solutions, a decision can be made as to the preferred solution and that solution can be procured.
However, this process is itself quite complex — in many ways, the Acquire segment is the most difficult portion of the Business Technology Life Cycle. Vital decisions must be made, starting with the solution selection but also including the choice of vendor(s), design approach, financing, procurement path, and configuration methodology. Each choice affects the rest, and each element (selection, design, financing, fulfillment and configuration) requires its own special expertise. It is hardly surprising that the Acquire segment is where the most companies seek help from partners like Solarcom Capital.
What specifically is involved?
The Acquire segment can include a great many tasks, depending on the nature and scope of the project. However, all projects require certain basic actions at this stage:
- Select a solution
- Architect the solution
- Finance and procure the solution (hardware, software, and/or services)
- Engineer the solution
How can Solarcom Capital help?
Solarcom Capital and our technology partners have the experience and resources to assist in every phase of the Acquire segment of the Business Technology Life Cycle:
-
FinancingSolarcom Capital is widely respected as the leader in both traditional and innovative approaches to IT finance. Solarcom Capital was the first to offer:
-
The unique TechFlex program, with flexible end-of-term options
-
Quarterly Takedown leases designed to accommodate new technology purchases and updates without creating a new lease for each acquisition
-
Project financing which includes professional services as well as hardware and software
-
Technology refresh programs designed to accommodate both new equipment purchases and upgrades of leased equipment and software without reapplying
-
Maintenance contract financing that provides the often considerable discounts granted for multiple-year contracts without full up-front payment
In addition to these innovations, our access to the used equipment industry leader (our sister company, Atlantix Global Systems) means Solarcom Capital leases can be structured for maximum residual equipment value, translating to lower customer payments.
-
Proof of ConceptOur sister company, Presidio Networked Solutions, has experienced engineers and extensive lab facilities available to construct a “proof of concept” implementation, giving the customer an invaluable opportunity to see first-hand how the chosen solution will actually behave in their IT environment and how it will interact with legacy systems and software. Significant and costly implementation issues can be identified and avoided by this often overlooked measure.
-
Architecture and Design ServicesPresidio solution architects are among the best in the industry, and their designs reflect their experience and professionalism. In addition to the stated requirements of the immediate project, Presidio designers consider a broad range of factors (interaction with legacy systems, plans for expansion, and ease of maintenance and administration, to name a few) to help ensure that the design they deliver is a true match not simply to the technical specifications but to the customer’s business goals as well.
-
ProcurementSolution procurement is more than just placing orders and accepting delivery. When customers need reliable procurement assistance, Solarcom Capital works with Presidio procurement specialists are experienced professionals who work every day with dozens of major and specialty vendors, and who know how to operate within each vendor’s processes to get the right equipment delivered to the right place at the right time.

Integration Center capable of configuring, testing, and shipping a single server, dozens of PCs, or an entire data center quickly and accurately. This facility is supported by 50,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space — more than adequate space to receive hardware and hold it until the implementation site is ready for delivery. And through Atlantix Global Systems we have access to one of the world’s largest on-hand inventories of parts and spares, ensuring that customers receive the widest possible range of fully configured, fully tested equipment on time and on budget.
